A NEW CHAPTER IN YOUR EAGLE JOURNEY

You’ve carried the values.
Now carry them forward.

Some of us still wear the uniform. Others haven’t tied a square knot in years. What connects us is deeper: our Orthodox faith, the promise we made, and a desire to make a difference.

The Orthodox Eagle Alumni community brings that experience together in support of the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting’s mission: helping young people grow in faith through Scouting.

A SHEPHERD TO YOUNG PEOPLE

Saint John Maximovitch

John of Shanghai and San Francisco

Remembered for his care for children and Orthodox communities abroad, Saint John also supported young people in Scouting. Scouts recalled his visits to their camps, and accounts of his ministry describe him celebrating the Divine Liturgy at Scout and youth camps—bringing the life of the Church into the outdoors.

A SCOUTMASTER AND EDUCATOR

Saint Basil of Kineshma

Bishop, teacher, and confessor

Before becoming a bishop, Saint Basil—then known as Benjamin (Veniamin) Preobrazhensky—was a Scoutmaster and educator. He studied Scouting in England and helped introduce its methods to Russian youth through his writing. His educational work connected practical skills, responsibility, and service with the formation of Christian character. He later suffered imprisonment and exile under Soviet persecution.
